In a large pot, sauté onion and garlic in oil until soft.

Add cubed butternut squash and sauté 5 minute more.

Combine spices, then sprinkle over squash and stir well to coat.

Add tomatoes, chipotle, and broth, stirring well and scraping bottom of pot.

Bring to a boil, then let simmer 20 minutes. Add beans and cook another 10 minutes.

For a thicker chili, stir in masa harina toward the end of cooking.
