Peel squash, remove seeds, and cut into chunks.

Add to a large pot and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil.

Meanwhile, melt butter in cream over low heat.

Cook squash until fork tender, then drain. Return to the same pot.

Mash squash using a potato masher or press through a potato ricer.

Add in melted butter and cream, mixing and mashing until as smooth as you like.
