A staple of the breakfast aisle, oats provide lasting energy that helps you get from breakfast to lunch. They’re versatile too, not being limited to the standard bowl of oatmeal.
Of course, oats aren’t limited to breakfast, appearing in some of our favorite desserts like cookies and crumbles.
When using oats in cooking or baking, you’ll most likely need rolled oats. These are also known as “old fashioned” oats.
Rolled oats are whole flakes, while quick oats are rolled oats that have been chopped into small pieces.
The smaller pieces allow for a faster cooking time, but can make the texture of your baked goods mushy.
Grab the rolled oats. They come in large boxes and will last at least a year in your pantry!
