Mrs. Meyers lead

When we were in the process of selling our house, my biggest worry was keeping the place clean. With kids and pets, you never know what kind of mess could be hiding behind a chair or under a table. And when you’re trying to show off your space, a cat hair tumbleweed or last night’s dinner crumbs are not the first impressions you want.

Since I am all for the division of labor as well as getting things done as quickly as possible, I devised a daily dash cleaning method. These simple tasks get everyone involved and make cleaning the house so much easier.

Cleaning the house has never been a family strong suit. It just feels so daunting that most of the time we can barely even get started before we throw in the proverbial dishtowel. By breaking it into smaller tasks that you do every day it doesn’t feel like you’re spending all your time cleaning. And, when we do those deeper cleaning task, they’re easier because we’re not starting from zero.

My kids take care of the tasks that don’t require cleaning products, but it’s still important to me to buy high-quality products that are biodegradable and made with plant-derived ingredients. I’ve made my own cleaning solutions before, but truth be told, I never felt like they really got my house as clean as I wanted.

My favorite products are from Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day®. Not only do they work really well, they also come in scents that don’t scream CLEANING PRODUCT, like lavender, lemon verbena, and basil. Who doesn’t want their kitchen to smell like basil?! I can’t think of a more appropriate cleaning scent for a product sold at Whole Foods Market.

Another reason I buy Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® products is because of their support of the Whole Kids Foundation. The Whole Kids Foundation is a nonprofit created by Whole Foods Market, dedicated to educating children about food through school salad bars, gardens, and more. Now through September 13, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® is donating $1 from the sale of each cleaning product to the Whole Kids Foundation to support these initiatives. If you care about kids eating healthier food like I do, it’s a great cause!

Because we clean every day now, I keep everything handy, including our simple checklist, which I print and hang on the refrigerator. There was some grumbling at first, but now my three-year-old races for the “sweeper” when it’s time to clean!

  1. My biggest obstacle has always been the floor. Our dogs shed so much hair and track in so much dirt that I practically have to clean our hardwood floors daily. I need to try these Mrs. Meyer’s products because they sound amazing! [client]

  2. Megan, staying on top of things is key. Like you said, “when we do those deeper cleaning tasks, they’re easier because we’re not starting from zero.” A couple things I do: I have hard floors throughout, so I dust mop the whole house three times a week. I wipe off the shower head/valve/spout after every bath or shower.
