Juicy and tender honey garlic pork chops come together in just minutes! Serve over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes for a simple yet satisfying weeknight dinner.
Ever get to the end of the work day and groan at the thought of preparing dinner? Me too!
One of the things they don’t warn you about being an adult (and parent) is that you’re going to be spending a lot of time making meals.
Thankfully, I always keep a few quick and easy meals ready to go, like lemon chicken or teriyaki pork chops.
These honey garlic pork chops are another great weeknight dish. They cook up so quickly, and have a savory sauce that is wonderful over rice or noodles.
It just might be your new go-to!
Ingredients for honey garlic pork chops
Full list of ingredients including quantities is located in the recipe card.
You’ll need:
Pork chops – I recommend using boneless chops for this recipe. Look for ones that are thicker, not the thin-cut chops. Butterfly chops will work as well; you’ll just need 2 instead of 4.
Garlic – Use 3 cloves, or more if you like!
Honey – I recommend using clover honey, which is the standard kind you’ll find at the grocery store. Wildflower honey can sometimes be too strong for certain recipes, so go ahead and taste the honey before using it.
You’ll also need:
- Butter
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Water
- White wine vinegar
- Crushed red pepper flakes
- Parsley
How to make this recipe
Grab a small bowl and combine the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel, then season all over with the spice blend, making sure to do both sides.
You’ll want to use an oven-safe skillet for this recipe, as the chops are finished in the oven. Cast iron works great.
Set the oven rack on the top shelf and preheat the broiler. Some ovens have two broiler settings; I recommend using the lower setting to ensure you don’t burn the chops.
Place your skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the pork chops and cook until golden brown, 4-5 minutes. Flip and cook the other side another 4-5 minutes.
Transfer the chops to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm while you make the honey garlic sauce. There’s no need to wipe out the pan.
Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter and remaining olive oil. Scrape up any browned bits with a spatula and stir back into the butter.
Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, just about 30 seconds. Pour in the honey, water, white wine vinegar, and crushed red pepper, stirring to mix.
The white wine vinegar adds acid to the sauce to brighten the flavors and balance out the fat in the sauce, as well as help it thicken.
Turn the heat up to medium-high and cook until sauce has thickened, 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Place the cooked pork chops back in the pan and spoon sauce over the top. Broil in the oven until edges are lightly caramelized and charred, just 1-2 minutes.
Scatter on fresh chopped parsley and serve.
Serving suggestions
Honestly, these honey garlic pork chops go with so many different things!
You can serve them up with rice and steamed veggies like in the photos, or try an asparagus risotto.
These chops also go well with your favorite noodles, creamy polenta, or garlic mashed potatoes.
I like to serve them with spicy glazed Brussels sprouts or honey roasted carrots.
Try the best broccoli salad, or just go for a big green side salad with creamy garlic dressing!

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 boneless pork chops, 1-inch thick
- 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, divided
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste, optional
- Chopped flat-leaf parsley, for garnish, optional
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper and garlic powder. Season the pork chops evenly with the spice blend on both sides.
- Place an oven rack on the top shelf, then preheat the broiler.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops until golden brown and crisp, 4-5 minutes, then flip and repeat for an additional 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a plate and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter and remaining tablespoon of olive oil. If there are any brown bits on the bottom of the pan, use a spatula to scrape them up and stir them into the liquid. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, 30-60 seconds. Add the honey, water, vinegar, and crushed red pepper (if using), then increase the heat to medium-high and cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce has thickened, 4-5 minutes.
- Return the pork to the pan and coat with the sauce. Place the skillet in the oven and broil until the edges are slightly charred, 1-2 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley, if using, and serve.
